CAIRO – 5 June 2017:The Official Gazette Sunday published Cairo Criminal Court decision putting former president Mohamed Morsi , former Al-Ahli Club footballer Abu Treika and 1500 outlawed Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members and affiliates on terror lists.

The decision in Petition No. 5 of 2017, on terrorist entities, case No. 653 of 2014, State Security, includes businessman Safwan Thabet, prominent MB members Mohamed el- Beltagy, Ashraf Thabet, Ashraf Badr, sons of Khairat el-Shater and Mahdy Akef, former MB Guide.

The decision, valid for three years, classifies the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group.
The group has been implicated in many terror attacks since 2011 and publicly launched threats against the state and Egyptian people in 2013 following the toppling of MB former president Mohamed Morsi. According to Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, the number of terror attacks against civilians, military and security ambushes between 2014 and 2016 reached 1,165.
