CAIRO – 5 June 2017: The Serbian envoy to Cairo Goran Aleksic has invited President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi to the inauguration ceremony of the new Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic at the end of this month.

According to a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, Aleksic met with Foreign Minster Sameh Shoukry in order to present a letter from the new president to his Egyptian counterpart, along with an invitation to his inauguration ceremony in Belgrade.

Aleksic assured Shoukry of his country’s interest in enhancing the bilateral ties between the two nations, saying that his country understands the challenges that Egypt is going through.

From his side, Shoukry congratulated Aleksic for electing the new president, saying that he is looking forwards to more extensive discussions between the two countries.

Accepting President Aleksandar Vucic’s invitation to the inauguration ceremony will mark Sisi’s first official visit to Serbia since taking office.

President Aleksandar Vucic won the Serbian presidential election with a 54.9% share of the vote on April 2; an office which he will serve in for the next five years.
