CAIRO – 26 February 2019: “Egyptian-Cypriot relations have reached the best level at the present time and the two countries are cooperating in several international forums,” said Cypriot President Nicos Enstiasadis on Tuesday in a video on ON E channel.

Enstiasadis clarified that Cyprus supports Egypt in the European Union, and that the consolidated relations between the European Union and Arab world crystallize in the Arab European Summit.

He also added that the relation between the two sides is based on a strong foundation which leads to successful cooperation, especially in the field of energy. Enstiasadis stressed that the two sides are keen on respecting the law of the sea and avoiding disputes with Turkey; however, Ankara’s actions violate the international law.

On February 24, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi praised Cyprus' support to Egypt in international forums and organizations. This came during Sisi's meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Enstiasadis on the sidelines of the Arab-European summit held in Sharm El-Shiekh, according to a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi.

The statement reported that the meeting between the two sides tackled ways to boost bilateral relations in various fields particularly in the energy sector.
