CAIRO – 04 June 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi appreciated the role Egyptian women play in political, social and economic life, urging them to be patient with recent economic decisions the government took, during the annual iftar he held for women on Saturday.

Sisi assured that the Egyptian woman is the pillar of family and whole society, praising her role in keeping state’s safety and security, and her awareness of dangers threatening the country.

“Egyptian woman still offers sacrifices which will be always a source of pride to this nation, especially who offered martyrs to our homeland,” Sisi said during his speech at the iftar, calling on women to back recent tough economic decisions that aim to lay a strong foundation of a modern state.

The president expressed state’s keenness and efforts to boost women’s role in all political, economic and social aspects. “Announcing 2017 as year of women assures state’s respect and appreciation of women contributions in nation’s march,” Sisi said.

First lady Intessar al-Sisi took part in the iftar, alongside representatives of women from all spectrums, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, House of Representatives’ speaker Ali Abdel Aal, other officials and celebrities.
