ADDIS ABABA - 8 February 2019: Sierra Leone's Minister of Foreign Affairs Alie Kabba asserted on Friday the importance of Egypt’s chairmanship of the African Union (AU) under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, saying it is an important chance for African states to achieve integration and development.

In statements to MENA on the sidelines of the AU Executive Council meetings of foreign ministers held in Addis Ababa, Kabba said his country welcomes Egypt’s chairmanship of the African Union, asserting that it provides an opportunity to continue the development of AU institutions and bodies.

In this regard, he affirmed his confidence that Cairo will spare no effort in working to develop the African Union.

He added that he believes President Sisi’s strong leadership will help confront Africa’s difficult and critical issues, topped by peace, security and development.

Meanwhile, Kabba pointed out that he participated in the Africa 2018 Forum, which was held in Egypt’s resort city of Sharm el Sheikh last December, noting that it brought together African states to discuss means of bolstering trade and economic relations among them.
