CAIRO - 29 January 2019: Up to 54 members affiliated with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood (MB) were arrested on Tuesday over accusations of spreading chaos and planning terrorist acts. A huge amount of money and various kinds of weapons were seized with the defendants.

According to a Tuesday statement by Egypt's Ministry of Interior, the security authorities received information regarding a new terrorist group which plans for conducting a number of terrorist attacks inside the country in conjunction with the anniversary of January 25 Revolution.

These attacks include acts of violence, cutting public roads, spreading chaos and terrorizing citizens, and undermining the country's stability.

The new group, which called itself Allahom Thawra (God, give us a revolution), managed to conduct several meetings outside the country and online using social media platforms. According to the statement, the group also managed to collect financial funding through the pro-MB companies and businessmen.

Some of the new terrorist group's leaders have been identified, including Yasser al-Omda, the active MB member who managed to flee the country to Turkey.

Legal measures have been taken with the defendants and investigations are still underway; other members are expected to be identified and arrested soon.

CAIRO - 23 January 2019: Egyptian Defense Ministry affirmed cooperating with police forces to secure the January 25 celebrations which mark the national Police Day, saying that joint patrols will deploy to deal with any attempt to break the law.
