CAIRO – 23 January 2019: Nearly 1,115 homeless children were rescued from the streets as part of the government's campaign “children with no shelter”, supervised by Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly.

According to a Wednesday statement, teams formed across Egypt’s governorates and cities succeeded to rescue a large number of street children and homeless old people.

During the campaign’s members' Tuesday tour, Cairo recorded the highest number of homeless children with about 85 children, followed by Gharbia Governorate with 29 homeless children.

Also, another 29 homeless children were found on Tuesday in Qalyubia Governorate, and 23 others were found in Assiut.

The campaign offers several ways to help homeless children and old people, whether through enrolling them into special centers and organizations or giving them blankets and food in case they refuse to join the special centers.
