CAIRO - 21 January 2019: “Rebels” from Darfur confessed that they killed the Sudanese protesters, announced Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir in a speech on Sunday.

Bashir added that the Sudanese arrested the rebels who then confessed their crimes in Sudan, stressing that saboteurs exploited the ongoing protests and attacked demonstrators in Sudan to cause chaos like what had happened in Arab countries.

“We are chosen by the Sudanese people and we respect their choice of the president and the House of Representatives through free elections. Next year election is not so far. We will respect the people’s will,” he said.

Sudan has plunged into chaos since December 19 when hundreds of Sudanese citizens protested against the deteriorating economic situation, calling for the end of Bashir’s rule.
