CAIRO - 13 January 2018: "Heart Surgery' professors and physicians conducted 608 open-heart surgeries during 2018, rating 50 cases per month with a success percentage of 95percent," Ahmed Taha, director of Al-Qasr Al -Aini Hospital, stated.

Taha added, "This large number of accurate complicated surgeries conducted by highly qualified physicians reflect the distinguished rank of Al-Qasr Al-Aini Hospital and its ability to compete in this field."

Taha assured that the hospital's doctors and professors exert utmost efforts to conduct these surgeries successfully and perfectly to satisfy the public.

In the same vein, Health Minister Hala Zayed asserted that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi pays great attention to the health of citizens, citing his directives to prepare effective training programs for the Health Ministry's staff.

In an interview with the Egyptian television, the minister revealed that the president called for gradually raising the salaries of all employees at model hospitals and health insurance hospitals.

She pointed out that the ministry managed to end patient waiting lists for Hepatitis C treatment in just two months, instead of six.

Since the start of the presidential campaign to combat Hepatitis C and detect chronic diseases, the Central Bank of Egypt and other financing banks have provided about LE 1.9 billion to put an end to the waiting lists, Zayed said.

Also, the president directed to conduct an overall Hepatitis C scan for all citizens, she noted.

Zayed pointed out that the Health Ministry is currently working on educating citizens about the necessity of family planning, referring to a package of measures the state will take in this regard.

The health insurance system will see a great progress in 2019, Zayed stressed.

As for the medicine file, Zayed clarified that the Health Ministry seeks to address all problems facing the medicine industry.

With regard to the shortage in some medicines, the minister affirmed that all drugs and their alternatives have been made available in the market, in addition to the localization of oncology drugs.

Furthermore, Zayed said that the country will cover the insulin industry by 100 percent in 2019 and the first half of 2020.

Zayed further unveiled that 3 million packets of baby formula are provided in strategic stores in Alexandria and Cairo, in addition to providing the people with special needs with milk products.
