CAIRO, Jan 2 (MENA) - Egypt deplored the the stabbing of three people - including a police officer - in Manchester.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry wished the three speedy recovery, stressing support for the British government and people in the face of all kinds of violence, extremism and terrorism.

Egypt called anew on the international community to intensify efforts in the face terrorism.

Britain is treating the stabbing as a terrorist investigation, police say.

A man, aged 25, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the attack on New Year's Eve at the city's Victoria railway station.

Two knives were recovered at the scene and a property is being searched in the Cheetham Hill area.
