CAIRO – 1 January 2019: Egyptian naval units are participating in the Red Wave 1 naval drills, which kicked off Sunday for the countries overlooking the Red Sea,including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, and Yemen.

The Red Wave-1 drills, which will run until Thursday, include several trainings on sea combat for enhancing the skills of army personnel of the participant countries.

The drills aim to bolster naval security for the Red Sea countries, protect regional waters, promote military cooperation and exchange expertise among participants.

The drills come within the framework of an Egyptian plan for joint training with the Armed Forces of other countries to exchange expertise and achieve more understanding and integration among the participant forces.
