Shoukry receives NATO commander

CAIRO– 1 June 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is scheduled to meet NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation General Denis Mercier on Thursday, at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters, according to a ministerial statement on Monday.

Shoukry, during a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, said that Egypt has the right to defend itself from threats posed by terrorist organizations against Egypt’s national security.

Shoukry and Lavrov held extensive meetings in the framework of the 2+2 strategic talks, wherein the ministers of defense and foreign affairs of the two countries hold discussions on a regular basis.
