CAIRO – 26 December 2018: More than 20,000 young students from Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) hailed the Ministry of Interior, and especially the Giza Security Directorate, for the high security measures taken to organize the New Year’s concert.

Egyptian Singer Mahmoud el-Esseily and Cairokee band performed at the concert which was attended by a huge number of the university students.

The university thanked the Egyptian Ministry of Interior and the Giza Security Directorate for securing the ceremony.

Esseily and Cairokee performed a number of their well-known songs during the evening.
Cairokee is one of the most successful bands in Egypt; they are well-known for their folk and indie rock music, as well as their lyrics that tackle social and political issues in the country.

The band was founded in 2003, but their hit "Soot al-Horreya" (Voice of Freedom), launched online in 2011, took them to another level of fame and placed them among pop stars.

The band released their latest album this past summer by the name “No'ta Beida” (White Dot), which has gone viral and achieved millions of views on YouTube.

The whole album was filmed as music videos in a single location, except for their track “El Dinosaur”. The album was made in their style along with different twists that their audience was not used to, but were well-received.
