Egypt to host Arab-European summit Feb 24

CAIRO -24 Dec 2018: Egypt will host a historic summit of Arab and European leaders on February 24-25, an Arab League official said Monday.

"Arab and European leaders will tackle all issues and discuss everything, contrary to claims that the summit will only be focusing on migration," Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Hossam Zaki told a press conference.

"Consultations between the two sides are currently underway to determine the issues to be tabled on the summit's agenda," he said.

"The Arab side has its concerns, and so does the European side, and together we will reach agreement on how to render the summit successful," he said.

Ambassador Zaki, who is also the Arab League secretary general's bureau chief, said an Arab-European ministerial meeting will be held on February 4 to prepare for the summit.
