CAIRO – 23 December 2018: The Arab League (AL) has condemned Saturday's two terrorist bombings near the presidential palace in the Somali capital Mogadishu which resulted in killing and wounding scores of military personnel and citizens.

The AL chief, Ahmed Abul Gheit, expressed solidarity with the Somali government and people in their war against terrorism and Al Shabab terrorist group.

Abul Gheit's spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said the league will continue supporting the Somali government's efforts to uproot terrorism and rebuild military and security institutions, carry out economic programs, maintain security and stability and overcome economic and social challenges.

The twin bombings left at least 16 people dead and more than 20 others wounded, police said.

The Al Qaida-linked Al Shabaab, which often targets Mogadishu, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
