CAIRO – 22 December 2018: With the New Administrative Capital being the first fully green city in Egypt, that relies almost fully on new and renewable energy, Egypt’s New Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company announced earlier in December that it will dig a Green River in the Capital to resemble the Nile River.

Egypt Today brings you the top 7 things you need to know about the Green River:

1- The project was given to the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities and Dar Al-Handasah for implementation.

2- The first phase is 10 kilometers long.

3- The first phase is worth $500 million (equivalent to LE 9 billion).

4- The company will sell the lands on the prospective river banks to the ministry so it would invest them, and raise funds necessary to finance the project.

5- The Green River will stretch from Cairo Ring Road to the Regional Ring Road passing through the Central Business Park.

6- On its banks, there will be a botanical garden, and a park having the Islamic architecture.
