CAIRO – 22 December 2018: Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi witnessed Saturday the laying of the foundation stone of the National Greenhouses Project in the 10th of Ramadan city via a video conference.

During the event, Sisi interrupted Capitain Mohamed Aboud Abdel Rahman asking, “Why didn’t you get individuals from the governorate to put the foundation stone?”

Adding that when the country builds something, young men and women, as well as those in charge, should be present.

Presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady told Egypt Today in press remarks that developing the greenhoues field in Egypt relies on two main points, which are reclaiming one million and a half feddans and building further 100,000 greenhouses, the number which is deemed unprecedented worldwide.

Rady further pointed out that the greenhouses project will preserve around 40 percent of Egypt’s water resources while at the same time producing the same amount of crops, which all come in favor of the state’s national rationalization plan.

The Egyptian leader underlined the importance of relying more on modern irrigation techniques and setting up drainage water treatment plants to serve greenhouses projects.

The greenhouse’s structure made of walls and transparent roof enables plants to grow in regulated climatic conditions, and provides a different weather than the outer environment.
