CAIRO – 12 December 2018: The Secretary General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mustafa Waziri, said Wednesday that the Ministry is close to sign an agreement with an Egyptian company to manage the area surrounding the three Pyramids after receiving the cabinet’s approval.

The Secretary General added during a phone call with the TV show “Salet El Tahrir” (Editorial Room) that all the archaeological areas belong to the Ministry of Antiquities according to the law, thus, the company will be just responsible of the services targeting the visitors.

“There are a lot of tourists’ complaints about the poor service, bad toilets, and the lack of restaurants and cafes which provide fast meals for the visitors,” Waziri said, adding that developing archaeological sites is crucial to tourism promotion in Egypt.

A Danish photographer named Andreas Hvid posted earlier in December an explicit video for himself having sex with his girl friend on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza. The video triggered fury in Egypt and on Social media platforms.

Egyptian authorities arrested on Tuesday two security personnel accused of facilitating the crime committed by the Danish photographer and his girl friend.
