Nile Crocodile Helicopter at EDEX 2018 - Egypt Today

CAIRO – 6 December 2018: The Russian Helicopter, Kamov Ka-50, has officially joined the Egyptian Air Force during Egypt’s first International Defense Expo (EDEX 2018). The new helicopter has been named the Nile Crocodile.

Kamov Ka-50 is considered to be a strong rival to the American Apache. It is specialized in confronting armored vehicles during wars. Also, it is provided with safety seats that can protect the pilots in case of plane crashes.

Several new weapons, armored vehicles and helicopters have been displayed in EDEX 2018 which was inaugurated by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Dec.3.
The inauguration was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed zaki as well as many other officials.

Furthermore, 10 defense ministries from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Sudan, France, Greece, Cyprus, South Sudan, Cameroon, Somalia and South Korea attended the exhibition.

Organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Defense and Military Production, EDEX-2018 attracted more than 10,000 visitors interested in the field of armaments and defense industries.

The exhibition hosts 373 international companies from 41 countries, including 42 US companies, 37 French companies, 28 Chinese companies and 13 Russian companies.
