CAIRO, Dec 3 (MENA) - President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi inspected on Monday the Saudi and UAE pavilions at Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX 2018) - Egypt's first tri-service defense expo covering air, land and sea.

During the tour, which also included the Romanian and Indian pavilions and those of leading international firms in the arms industry, Sisi was accompanied by defense ministers and heads of delegations taking part in the event, including the defense ministers of the UAE, Oman, Sudan, France, Cyprus, South Sudan, Cameroon, S.Korea and Somalia.

The inaugural EDEX is fully supported by Egyptian armed forces and presents a brand new opportunity for exhibitors to showcase the latest technology, equipment and systems across land, sea, and air.

About 373 international companies from 41 countries are showcasing the latest technology, equipment and systems across land, sea and air. The fair is set up on an area of 17,000 square meters under the sponsorship of 15 local and international companies.

As many as 56 official delegations comprising defense, military production ministers and chiefs of staff are participating in the three-day event.

Over 10,000 industry visitors are expected to attend the fully-hosted international military VIP Delegation Program.

With over 1.3 million military personnel, as the largest military power in Africa and one of the leading forces worldwide, Egypt is the ideal setting for such a large-scale event for the sector. In addition, Egypt has historically maintained continuous investment in the latest weaponry as a defense strategy and has strengthened national production lines across a range of military complexes.
