CAIRO – 30 May 2017: Over three days, Cairo Criminal Court designated 210 convicts on terror list for three years, including top leaders of outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, like Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie, Mahmoud Ghozlan, Saad al-Hossainy, Salah Sultan, Jehad al-Haddad, and Ahmed Abu Baraka. But what are the consequences of court’s decision?

Article 7 of Law 8 for 2015 states how to deal with terrorist persons and entities.

Terrorist entities:

1. Ban the terrorist organization and stop its activity
2. Block all its sites and ban its meetings
3. Ban its funding or donations directly and indirectly
4. Freeze the belongings of it members, if they are used in terrorist acts
5. Ban recruiting new members, or promote its ideas or logos

Terrorists:

1. Enlisted on ban-travel lists
2. Ban terrorist foreigners from entering the country
3. Withdraw the passport and ban issuing a new one
4. Banning the enlisted names from joining general prosecution, or any officials positions
5. Freeze their assets and money used in terrorist acts

The same article of the law stated that concerned parties or general prosecution to appeal against the decision within 60 days of the issuance, before criminal circle of Court of Cassation.

The Cairo criminal court had added 1,538 people to the terrorists list in January for alleged alliance or assistance to the Brotherhood, including former President Mohamed Morsi and his sons; Safwan Thabet, a businessman; football star Mohamed Abu Trika and Mostafa Sakr, a newspaper publisher.
