CAIRO – 30 May 2017: Police forces in coordination with military forces besieged Upper Egypt’s mountains to arrest Menya attack perpetrators. That was part of intensive security operations in Menya, Beni Sweif, Fayoum, Assiout, and Sohag.

The National Security, public security, investigation teams and special operations officers participated in those operations, as well as, military forces on the Western borders.

It is suspected that three Bedouins provided information on the bus movements to terrorists, and helped them escape.

Security sources stated to Egypt Today that efforts are deployed to reach jihadist camps located in Upper Egypt, and that are run and financially supported by outlawed Muslim Brotherhood leaders who fled the country.

Three of the most dangerous camps have been discovered earlier where extremists have been receiving training on shooting, military tactics, and explosives manufacturing.

The prominent outlawed Muslim Brotherhood leader who was responsible for transferring terrorists to those camps is Helmy Saad. He was killed by security forces along with seven others in the mountainous area between Sohag and Safaga eastern Egypt. A huge amount of arms was found with them.
