CAIRO – 24 November 2018: Tourism Minister Rania al Mashat met US Journalist and Travel Editor for CBC and PBS, Peter Greenberg, at the end of his one-week visit to Cairo.

In a Friday’s statement, Tourism ministry said that Greenberg’s visit to Egypt aimed to record an episode about the country which expected to be displayed in the first quarter of 2019 in "Travel Detective" famous TV program.

The episode, titled ‘Hidden Gems’, expected to feature some unknown tourist attractions in Egypt.

During the meeting, Mashat thanked Greenberg for screening an episode about the unseen tourist places in the country, which in turn would help attract more tourists to these sites. She also shed light on the importance of Greenberg's visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which is slated to be opened in 2020.

Greenberg expressed his admiration of the tourist destinations, notably the Egyptian Museum and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

While in Cairo, Greenberg aired an episode of his weekly program Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show, in which he hosted a number of Egyptian guests, including GEM General Supervisor Tareq Tawfiq, Egyptian Adventurer Omar Samra and cyclist and Guinness World Records holder Helmy El Saeed.

A new promotional campaign is going to be lunched for Egypt during the coming period as part of the ministry’s plan. This campaign is going to include new tourism slogans such as Branding by Destination and People to People (P2P).

On October 9, Mashat revealed the ministry’s plan to establish a new international partnership to promote Egyptian Tourism worldwide after ending its contract with the marketing company GWT.

Mashat added during a press conference at one of Cairo’s hotels that the ministry seeks a new partnership that can implement the Ministry of Tourism’s vision in a flexible pattern during the upcoming period, the minister pointed out that the new plan is based on several axes such as, crisis management, multimedia, and public relations.
Those tasks will be carried out by private companies set to promote tourism in Egypt, added Mashat.
