Sisi approves law regulating NGOs work in Egypt

CAIRO – 29 May 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi approved Monday the law that regulates work of NGOs in Egypt, after it was approved by House of Representatives past November.

The law, published in the Official Gazette, stipulates that NGOs working in Egypt should adjust their position according to law’s provisions within six months from the issuing date, otherwise it will be dissolved, and all its funds will be referred to a fund established to support civil society.

Adjusting NGOs positions by informing the concerned ministry of National Organization for Regulating Work of Foreign NGOs, with organization’s activities, fund resources and all its data.

The Cabinet will issue the executive regulations of the law, within two months of the issuance, according to article 6 of the law.
