Al Burda Award enhances cultural, artistic mobility: minister

CAIRO - 15 November 2018: Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem said Thursday that Al Burda Award Festival organized in Abu Dhabi enhances the cultural and artistic
action at the regional and international levels especially after UAE has become an international destination for art and culture.

This remark came during the inaugural session of the event which was attended by Abdel Dayem and President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed al Khalifa.

Abdel Dayem greeted UAE Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development Noura al Kaabi and expressed appreciation for being invited to participate in the event.

The minister hailed the high-level efforts exerted by the UAE which reflect a great awareness on the humanitarian heritage and suggested launching a project that unites the Arab states and enhances communication with world countries in order to spread the aspects of Arab creativity.

Launched in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, Al Budra Award commemorates the birth and life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) through poetry, Islamic ornamentation and Arabic calligraphy.

Since inception, the award has recognized 292 artists from Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Algeria, Sudan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Bosnia, Turkey, Iran, Germany, the UK, and Canada.
