CAIRO - 10 November 2018: Minister of High Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Nov.10 that the cooperation between Egyptian universities and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) is crucial, and that a committee has been formed to improve their ranking within a year.

The minister’s statements came during a meeting with the presidents of universities and research centers, their deputies, representatives of international universities ranking institutions, and Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky.

Abdel Ghaffar stated that Egypt has 120,000 researchers, and produces a large number of research projects annually. The minister revealed that he has assigned his deputies to re-evaluate scientific research so it would generate income, become relevant on a global scale, and contribute to the enhancement of Egyptian universities in international rankings.

The meeting also discussed the international and local experience on the use of SciVal which was introduced in many Egyptian universities and research centers through the EKB with the aim of better analysing and developing scientific research.
