CAIRO – 28 May 2017: Security forces demolished an illegal 13-storey building on the Nile bank in Banha in a blatant breach of law. Traffic was banned in the area to preserve lives and property.

The procedure was executed by the Armed Forces Engineering Authorities. There were no damages in the surrounding buildings, though the strong explosion sound caused panic among the residents.

The number of demolished buildings by the security forces is 60 in Giza, 38 in Menoufia, 252 in Kafr el-Sheikh, 1,178 in Fayoum, 56 in Damietta, 550 in Suez, 923 in Luxor, 30 in North Sinai, and 456 in Minya.

Other demolition procedures have been executed in Qena, Suez Canal Axis, and other governorates. Many lands that were illegally taken over have been revoked as well.
