CAIRO - 15 October 2018: The facility’s inaugural flight arrival, headed by the Minister of Aviation Younis Al Masry, reached Sphinx International Airport on Monday.

Sphinx International Airport serves 6th of October City, Sheikh Zayed, Fayoum, Beni Suef and Menia governorates.

It is located near the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Haram area.

It serves tourist areas in Cairo and receives one flight every day.

The airport is designed to ease the pressure on Cairo International Airport, located east of the Egyptian capital.

It consists of the main terminal building, the air control tower and 24 service offices.

The airport has two main corridors for landing and takeoff, as well as emergency corridors. It accommodates 300 passengers per hour, and its main gate is located on the Alexandria desert road.

The total area of the Sphinx International Airport is estimated at 26 thousand meters, at a construction cost of around LE 300 million.
