CAIRO – 28 May 2017: The maximum limit for medical treatment abroad at the expense of state is €12,000 ($13,420,) Minister of Health and Population Ahmed Emad El-Din Rady stated Sunday.

Rady explained that the program of treatment at the expense of state targets those who do not have any medical insurance.

"The ministry will look into whether the amount is convenient or needs to be raised," Rady said.

The minister further stated that the budget allocated to medical insurance is expected to increase, in light of the price hikes following the surge in dollar exchange rate.

The ministry had issued over 49,000 approvals for state funded treatment early May, costing around LE 92 million ($5,084,432.)

The ministry's budget, submitted to the parliament for approval, has allocated LE 4 billion for the program of treatment at state expense for the next fiscal year.
