CAIRO, 6 October 2018: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday confirmed that October War victory is a renewed message of hope and self-confidence.

In an address to the nation on the occasion marking the 45th anniversary of 6th October 1973 victory, the president added that the war proved that the Egyptian army had capabilities that exceeded all expectations.

Also, the strong Egyptian people have supported their army during the war, he indicated.

This unity between the army and people of Egypt has attested that nobody could break the will of Egypt and that thanks to the minds and hands of its sons and daughters it could overcome all difficulties that followed the 1967 war, said the president.

Egypt after 1967 managed to rebuild its Armed Forces and launched the attrition war under the leadership of late president Gamal Abdel Nasser to prove to the world that Egypt is a nation which has a strong will and determination, added the president.

He added that the war was launched by a decision from late leader Anwar el Sadat to prove to the world that Egypt can change any state of affairs it would not accept.

Moreover, President Sisi added that the decision also proved that defending the nation's soil and borders is a sacred mission that Egypt and its army could undertake in the full appropriate way whatsoever the sacrifices of lives and blood.

The Egyptian Armed Forces have achieved immense heroic acts that that could not be lost in the annals of history, said the president, noting that everybody respects and appreciates these heroic acts.

The president confirmed that the glorious October war was not only meant to restore the usurped land, but also to establish peace.

Great nations, he noted, are fully aware of the meaning of peace and seek to establish it provided that it is based on justice and balanced powers.

Sisi also said that Egypt was able to restore all its lands through war and peace.

He further noted that Egypt is still facing challenges including that of preserving the Egyptian State and preventing its downfall. Egypt is doing so through standing up to the danger of political vacuum and terrorism, the president indicated.

A fair look at the overall national security challenges in the region over the past few years shows that October victory was not achieved by chance.

Great Egypt is accustomed to achieving victories and conquering any ordeal, said the president, explaining that as Egypt was capable to cross the bridge between defeat and victory in the period from 1967-1973, it could also overcome the period of unprecedented turmoil that swept the region over the past few years.

These challenges did not sap the will of Egypt as it managed to besiege black terrorism and deal heavy blows to its elements and organizations, said the president.

Egypt also managed to stabilize the pillars of the State and restore confidence and calm to the Egyptian society after hard times of polarization and tension, the president pointed out.

All these challenges did not distract efforts for enhancing the economic development process, added president Sisi.

He vowed commitment to efforts to achieve progress and prosperity for all Egyptians, echoing his emblematic slogan "Long Live Egypt".
