CAIRO - 27 May 2017: Libyan House of Representatives strongly condemned the terror attack in Minya governorate, announcing their complete solidarity with Egypt in its war against terrorism, in their official statement released Friday.

“We announce our complete solidarity with Egypt in its, and our, sacred war against terrorism and extremism, which are trying in vain to destroy Egypt and its unity,” the statement read.

Members of the Libyan parliament expressed their condolences to the families of the victims, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and all Egyptian people, wishing the wounded a quick recovery. They appealed to the United Nation’s Security Council to take strict measures towards countries that support terrorism.

A group of masked gunmen attacked a bus of Coptic Christians in the Egyptian governorate of Minya, leaving 28 killed and 25 injured.

In response to the attack, Egypt's air forces carried out six intensive airstrikes on Derna, eastern Libya on Friday, targeting groups affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) group, believed to be responsible for the Minya attack.
