Court accepts complaints in 'Returned from Libya' case

CAIRO - 2 October 2018: The Court of Cassation on Tuesday accepted complaints filed by the defendants involved in the case of "The Returned from Libya" against previous death sentences and lifetime jail terms.

The court ordered a retrial before another criminal circuit.

The Cairo Criminal Court had sentenced two of them to death for establishing and joining a terrorist cell.

The court also had sentenced four of them to life in prison and seven others to three-year prison terms with hard labor, one to 15 years in prison and acquitted two others.

They are facing charges of attacking public and private property, using violence against citizens with a view to intimidating them and killing citizens along with attempted murder.
