CAIRO – 2 October 2018: Members of the Egyptian parliament have proposed ways to make the most of Melania Trump’s visit to Egypt as part of her African tour this week.

MP Magda Nasr said ministers of tourism, investment and culture should meet with the U.S. First Lady in hopes she signs relevant protocols, in addition to Trump’s interest in child welfare.

Nasr also recommended that the National Council for Women meets with Trump to discuss national projects that focus on the advancement of women.

For the part of the undersecretary of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, Suzy Rafla, the visit will strengthen relations and boost investments; especially that African is rich with resources. She added that the tourism sector should promote Egypt as a travel destination during the visit.

Secretary of the foreign affairs committee, Tarek al-Khouly, also suggested that Trump visits tourist sites as the world follows her visit, emphasizing that including Egypt in her African tour is telling of the importance of the country as an African nation.

The First Lady left Washington Tuesday to make stops in Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt in a week-long journey focusing on children.
