CAIRO - 24 September 2018: Armenian Ambassador to Egypt Armen Melkonian said Egypt and Armenia are bolstering mutual cooperation at the political, economic, scientific, cultural as well as educational levels.

The ambassador was speaking Sunday night at a reception marking Armenian National Day in the presence of a number of dignitaries, ambassadors and diplomats accredited to Egypt.

"We are trying to capitalize on the new opportunities and advantages Egypt has recently gained to achieve mutual interests," Melkonian said, noting that the Egyptian and Armenian business community has been committed to fostering cooperation following the Joint Committee meeting held in Yerevan last year.

Now that the Armenian-Egyptian Business Association has been established in Yerevan, a similar entity is being established in Egypt, Melkonian added.

He voiced confidence that it will be an effective platform for fruitful cooperation in several fields, such as information technology, telecommunications, renewable energy, textile and foodstuff.

He also said that Egypt is the favorite destination for Armenian tourists, adding that Armenian Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan is set to pay an important visit to Egypt on Monday during which he will meet Ambassador Nabila Makram Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs to discuss mutual cooperation prospects.
