CAIRO - 4 September 2018: Last July, Nestlé Egypt launched its annual summer internship program aimed to provide comprehensive job training to students from technical schools, institutes and universities, this include youth from both genders to prepare students and develop their skills for the workplace.

This program is part of “Nestlé Needs YOUTH” global initiative that aims to help create economic opportunities for 10 million youth by the year 2030.

120 trainees participated in this year’s internship program from different educational and technical institutions across Egypt.

Moataz El Hout, Chairman and CEO of Nestlé North East Africa Region, stated: “Youth unemployment is a serious global issue, affecting millions of young people and contributing to global poverty. As a major employer, we recognize that we can make a positive difference by providing employment opportunities and skills development.

We offer apprenticeships, training schemes and initiatives to equip young people with the skills required for the workplace. Through these schemes we want to play a significant role in tackling youth unemployment.”

Nahla Kamal the member of the Executives Board and Head of Corporate Affairs at Nestlé North East Africa Region, added, “Nestlé believes the technical education is a promising direction to take towards the development of the industry sector in Egypt. Our collaboration with the Ministry of Education enabled Nestlé to have a better chance to provide the Summer Internship Program 2018 to more students at the Don Bosco Technical Institute and top technical school students majoring in mechanics.

We aspire more collaboration with the ministry of education and all the concerned parties to meet the needs of technical education in Egypt, which suffers from a relative lack of training opportunities."

Graduates with the best performance during the program have the opportunity to be “Students on Projects,” who continue to work with their assigned departments on a defined project alongside their studies.

Hundreds of students from public and private universities across Egypt, as well as technical institutes graduated from Nestlé Annual Summer Internship Program and more are expected to participate in the program to become leaders of the future.
