ALEXANDRIA, Egypt - 21 August 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi performed Eidul Adha prayers at Mohammed Karim Mosque in the Mediterranean sea port city of Alexandria on Tuesday morning.

Participating in performing the prayers at the mosque on this holy occasion were a number of senior state officials, including Prime Minister and Minister of Housing and Urban Communities Moustafa Madbouli, Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal and Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa.

Presidential Adviser for Religious Affairs Dr. Osama el Azhari led the worshipers during the prayers and gave the Eidul Adha sermon.

Azhari underlined in his Eidul Adha sermon the virtues of Hajj (pilgrimage) mentioned in Surat Al-Ḥajj which is the 22nd sura of the Holy Quran, highlighting the relationship between Hajj and charity.

He said, Allah has placed benevolence above justice, emphasizing the virtues of charity and mentioning it in many verses of the Holy Quran.

Explaining, he said that charity is the ultimate act of goodness and love.

He added that charity is not just about giving to the poor, “it is about goodness of the heart and love for all mankind”.

He concluded his sermon by calling on the nation to pay better attention to education.

After the end of the prayers the president shook hands with other worshipers then left the mosque.
