Shoukry hailed the deeply-rooted relations between Egypt and France – FILE

CAIRO – 26 July 2018: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call on Wednesday from French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual concern.

Shoukry hailed the deeply-rooted relations between the two countries, said the Foreign Ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Abu-Zeid.

The top diplomat said Egypt looks forward to developing the ties in all fields, especially in the light of great opportunities available for cooperation between the two sides.

For his part, Le Drian stressed the importance of the bilateral relations and France's appreciation of the Egyptian role in supporting stability in the region, said the spokesman.

He was also keen to inform Shoukry of the outcome of his recent visit to Libya in the light of the Egyptian efforts in support of stability and political settlement in Libya.

The FMs also mulled the next steps to achieve consensus between all Libyan parties, added the spokesman.
