CAIRO - 25 July 2018: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr Mohamed Abdel Aati said Wednesday Egypt awaits remarks by the member states of the Lake Victoria-Alexandria navigational line on the initial report on the project submitted by the project's Cairo unit international consultant.

In statements after receiving a comprehensive report on the project, the minister said Egypt hopes the project would be a favorable opportunity to create accord among the Nile Basin states on the establishment of a regional mechanism that could be used later as a nucleus for other broader mechanisms across the continent.

The report includes the consultancy office's vision as regards the institutional and legal statutes of the proposed regional authority that will run the project, he said.

Dr Tahani Soleit, the Director of the project's management unit and regional coordinator, said the project is considered one of the key regional ventures that aim to link the Nile Basin states to enhance inter-trade and tourism and create job opportunities.
