CAIRO – 21 May 2017: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met on Saturday with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, on the sidelines of Riyadh Summit 2017.

During the meeting, Sisi praised the cultural and historical ties between the two Muslim countries, stressing Egypt’s keenness to boost cooperation over issues of common concern, according to Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Youssef.

The meeting came 24 hours before the scheduled Arab Islamic American Summit in the Saudi capital.

Tajikistani president expressed his anticipation to exchange experience with Egypt in different fields, pointing out that he follows with interest the economic developments achieved by the Egyptian government over the last three years. Rahmon also invited Sisi to visit Tajikistan.

Sisi further referred to training programs and technical support that Egypt offers to Tajikistani students, stating that these programs will continue, along with receiving students of Tajikistan in Al-Azhar and Egyptian universities.
