CAIRO - 6 July 2018: The new regional ring road saves the state about LE 900 million annually, Minister of Transportation and Urban Development, Hisham Arafat said on Thursday.

During an interview at Masaa’ Dream program (Dream’s Evening) broadcasted on Dream TV satellite channel, the minister said that purchasing the needed lands from people’s properties is one of the main obstacles facing the government while working on completing the project.

He added that the project embodies the full integration and cooperation among state institutions, pointing out that the expropriation procedures of the lands with compensating the citizens were implemented at a speedy pace to fast track the project.

The regional ring road project aims at linking Egypt’s main routes, which in turn would contribute in booming the trade interactions between Upper and Lower Egypt governorates.

On the other hand, it will ease the traffic movement in Greater Cairo, where traffic congestion usually peaks, according to the minister’s statements.
