CAIRO – 6 July 2018: Egypt scheduled to present its Voluntary National Review (VNR) by mid-July during the 2018 session of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), said minister of planning, Hala al-Saeed, during a meeting with the French Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

According to al-Saeed, Egypt has put in place institutional arrangements to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation, and have outlined the importance of engaging multiple stakeholders.

Egypt presented in June a VNR message providing a brief overview of more comprehensive document which is currently prepared to report on SDG implementation efforts.

Countries generally outline efforts to implement the SDGs at the national level, while a few report on implementation efforts at the sub-national level and on integrating the SDGs as part of their international development frameworks.

Over the last few years, the Egyptian government exerted intensive efforts to develop “Egypt Vision 2030” which aims to transform the country into one of the 30 largest economies in the world, one of the top 30 countries in the fight against corruption, one of the top 30 countries in the Global Competitiveness Index and the Human Development Index, and one of the top 10 countries in economic reforms.

"The ambitious plans to modernize government work in Egypt aim to build an efficient and effective administration system that can easily adapt to local and international developments in order to provide high-quality government services that leverage state-of-the-art technology to achieve customer happiness," al-Saeed said.
