CAIRO – 18 May 2017: The Cairo Criminal Court acquitted fugitive tycoon Hussein Salem on Thursday in the retrial for exporting gas to Israel at below-market prices.

Salem was closely associated with former President Hosni Mubarak, and following the January 25 revolution ,Salem was accused of involvement in several illegal deals.

On November 29, 2015, Salem was acquitted in absentia along with former president Hosni Mubarak on the same case. Later, the General Prosecution appealed against the first acquittal.
