CAIRO – 23 June 2018: Advertising and sports marketing agency Presentation Sports, which has the sponsorship rights of the Egyptian Football Association (FA), issued a statement on Thursday replying to the celebrities’ delegation’s repercussions to the World Cup.

The statement replies to an article written by Editor in Chief of Sherouk newspaper, Emad el-Dein Hussein, who criticized the decision of sponsoring the traveling of some celebrities by Telecom Egypt “We”, to support the national team in its match with Russia in the World Cup, instead of sending normal Egyptian supporters or sports figures, “Especially as it coincided with raising the prices of fuel and electricity and calling citizens to austerity!”

“Any private company can host and pay the expenses, tickets and residence of any number of public figures, as long as this is included in its marketing budget, so this will not cost the taxpayer anything; but when a company that has even a simple share of the public money, it was necessary to think about the subject from all perspectives.“

Presentation in it’s statement said that they sponsored 1,350 Egyptian supporters to Russia including less than 10 public figures.
The statement added that even if there is a simple share of the public money in the sponsoring companies, this doesn’t abandon the use of marketing tools available in an open competition market.

“Telecom Egypt, is the only sponsor and supporter of the national team, and the Egyptian football industry, and contributes to its redevelopment. It bravely fought to sponsor and support Egyptian football,” the statement mentioned.

A few days before the decisive game between Egypt and Russia on Tuesday which ended with Egypt’s defeat 3-1, a number of celebrities and media figures landed in Russia to support the national team, which sparked the anger of many critics and commentators for it having a bad effect on the players’ focus.
Sports radio presenter and anchor Ibrahim Fayek called for immediate interference to stop the “unfathomable” hassle going on in the team’s camp.

Later on Monday and on their official Facebook page, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) stated that the delegation is not interrupting the preparations in the team’s camp.

After nearly a three-decade hiatus, the Egyptian national team qualified for the group stage of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but exited it after losing its first two World Cup appearances with Uruguay and Russia.

The Egyptians lost the first game of the group stage to Uruguay with a +90 goal, while Russia managed to thrash the Saudi team in the opening of the tournament with five goals and no reply.

Following Uruguay’s win over Saudi Arabia, Russia and Uruguay have officially qualified for the round of 16, while Egypt and Saudi Arabia are knocked out of the World Cup.
Egypt still has one final match with Saudi Arabia on Monday.

The national team is training for their last game against Saudi Arabia.

Presentation won the sponsorship rights of the Egyptian (FA) for five years
The advertising agency Presentation managed to win the sponsorship rights of the Egyptian Football Association (FA) for the next five years in July 2017.

According to On Sport TV Channel, the Egyptian FA sold the sponsorship rights for the next five years after agreeing on an LE 405.5 million ($22.3 million) deal.

Presentation entered a strong competition with news agencies Al-Ahram and Al-Akhbar. The bidding war began to slow down when Al-Ahram left the race when the deal reached LE 370 million ($20.37 million). However, Al-Ahkbar kept going head to head with Presentation until the deal reached LE 400 million.

This deal means that Presentation has exclusive sponsorship of the Egyptian national team, Egyptian league and cup, allowing them, among other things, to make deals with other media outlets to air the matches.
