CAIRO – 14 June 2018: The UK Ambassador to Egypt John Casson said on Wednesday that nine Egyptian startups will attend the London Tech Week.

"We’re helping nine Egyptian startups attend @LDNTechWeek #London - the biggest tech & innovation event - thanks to @StartEgypt @Flat6LabsCairo & @StartupGrind," Casson stated on his official Twitter account.

The ambassador added that they aim to connect these inspiring Egyptians with international investors and open doors to new markets.

Casson announced in 2017 the launch of a new initiative in support of start-ups in Egypt.

Under the StartEgypt initiative run by Flat6Lab, a LE 47-million loan is provided to support Egyptian entrepreneurs, Casson told a round table held at the headquarters of the US Embassy in Cairo.

It is time to support the Egyptian youths and give them the opportunity to improve their capabilities and develop their country, he noted.

Casson urged the private sector in Egypt and the UK to support the initiative with LE 10 million, saying that his country is taking part in building the Egyptian economy.

He voiced his country's support for the economic reforms recently taken by the Egyptian government and praised Egyptian-British relations.
