CAIRO – 16 May 2017: Head of the Federation of Arab Journalists (FAJ), Moayed Al-Lami, and Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb, agreed on holding an international conference on promoting the dialogue of tolerance, a source at the Iraqi Press Syndicate revealed Tuesday.

Iraqi news outlets confirmed that Lami met with Tayeb in Cairo on Tuesday and agreed that the conference should highlight the significant importance of tolerance and moderation with the attendance of top religious scholars and media elites of various nationalities.

According to the source, mechanisms of fighting extremism in religion and media industry will be addressed during the conference.

It is pertinent to mention that President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi received Lami last July as they discussed ways of unifying media discourse against terrorism.
