RAMALLAH - 31 May 2018: The head of prisoner affairs for the Palestinian Authority, Issa Qaraqe, said that hundreds of Palestinian prisoners being held under administrative detention in Israeli prisons will start a gradual hunger strike as of next week.

In statements to "Voice of Palestine" Radio on Thursday, Qaraqe said 500 Palestinian administrative detainees will continue to boycott the Israeli courts to ratchet up pressure on the Israeli side to put an end to the file of administrative detention.

Administrative detention is arrest and detention of individuals by Israeli occupation forces without trial. The detention can be renewed indefinitely.
