CAIRO - 14 May 2017: Cairo Criminal Court set June 10 session to issue its verdict on the defendants accused of assassinating former Attorney General Hisham Barakat.

The court adjourned on Saturday the criminal case that involves 67 defendants, 51 of whom are currently held in detention while 15 are being tried in absentia.

The defendants are also facing other charges, the most prominently noted of which is their association with Hamas militant group, with the aim of fomenting instability in the country, as well as illegal possession of firearms.

In June 2015, Barakat died in a car bomb attack in Cairo while leaving his home. The blast also caused injuries to some of his guards.
