Media Regulatory Council to form Media Observatory

CAIROThe Supreme Media Regulatory Council (SMRC) will form a Media Observatory to follow-up on what is being broadcast or published in different media outlets, an SMRC member told Egypt Today Saturday.

The Media Observatory will also evaluate media performance in various outlets and cooperate with the Press Syndicate regarding the interrogation of violators.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said a web portal is to be launched soon to receive complaints against any media organization.

that the news industry in Egypt is facing a “crucial” problem, adding that the biggest challenge lies in setting a plan for reformation.
