CAIRO - 17 May 2018 – The cabinet under Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Thursday approved a draft law on the establishment of technological universities, Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdul Ghaffar announced.

Upon the bill, eight technological universities will be built across the nation, three of which are being constructed in New Cairo, Quesna and Beni Suef, Abdul Ghaffar said in a press conference at the cabinet's headquarters.

As per the draft law, graduates of the technical education will have the chance to apply for the technological universities and complete the postgraduate studies (Master or PhD), which in turn could serve the state's development and industrial plans and secure more jobs, he noted.

Also, the cabinet reviewed a presidential draft decree to establish a private university titled Merit University, in addition to the possibility of building new universities in Upper Egypt, Marsa Matrouh, Red Sea and New Valley, he underlined.
