CAIRO - 16 May 2018: An extraordinary session of the Arab League Council kicked off on Wednesday to review means of confronting the US decision to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The meeting at the permanent delegates' level is held under Saudi Arabia at a request from Palestine.

Saudi Ambassador Osama Nugali said the meeting is held in preparations for an Arab foreign ministers' meeting on Thursday.

In statements prior to the meeting, the Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo and Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Diab Al Louh said the meeting should come up with decisions that are up to the unfolding events in the Palestinian territories.

He considered moving the US embassy on the anniversary of the Palestinian Nakbah as an aggression and provocation to Arab, Muslim and Christian feelings.

He also referred to the crimes committed by Israel against unarmed Palestinians and the importance of securing international protection for the Palestinians.
